Course intent

Explore the world of flower arranging and gain knowledge of flowers, foliage and accessories. Each week learners will develop skills in identifying seasonal flowers and applying new arrangement techniques to produce unique designs.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to:

  • Create a variety of seasonal flower arrangements and hand tied designs in both contemporary and traditional themes.
  • Identify the elements and principles of design as used in floristry and flower arranging.
  • Use colour to enhance the designs created to suit the environment they are to be placed in.
  • Safeguarding, Prevent & British Values

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    This course is suitable for beginners. No previous experience required, just enthusiasm and a love of flowers.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You need to bring:

  • A notebook and pen
  • Scissors
  • A bucket for flowers
  • A plastic sheet or cloth to work on
  • A small knife
  • An apron and closed toe shoes
  • Flowers and foliage

The fee does not cover the cost of materials. A list of materials (including flowers and foliage) will be sent out prior to the start date.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Further short courses and weekly classes are available, covering a range of topics from seasonal specialities to wedding flowers & themed designs.

Other courses in arts and crafts are available if you wish to try something different

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
