Course intent

You will learn different ways of working with paper including Gel Plate printing, paper folding, origami, collage, mark making and simple book structures

What will I learn?

You will learn · Different types of paper and their uses · Gel plate printing · Collage · Paper grain and folding · Mark making with different media · Simple folded book structures such as a single folded sheet book, a concertina, a Flexagon, a Waterfall and Victorian Puzzle Purse. · Simple paper folios · Folding paper designs into books · Design and making skills

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for Beginners.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You will need to bring: · an apron or suitable clothing for working with materials that stain · sketchbook or notebook and pen · Sheets of different Paper to print on to. (A2, A3 and A4) · Pencil, sharpener and eraser · Ruler (at least 30cm/12 inch long) · glue stick · 3 tubes of Acrylic paint- your choice of colour (you can bring more than 3) · Any art materials you own Will there be any additional costs?

As the course progresses, your tutor will let you know which additional materials and tools you will need and will discuss what you already have. You will need to provide your own paper. The tutor will provide Gel plates for you to use.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Learners can progress onto Calligraphy courses on a Tuesday or other drawing and painting courses with SAL.

One-day workshops are available.

The tutor will be happy to help learners thinking about entry to Further Education with other providers.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
