Course intent

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • Line, Tone, Perspective
  • Sketching, pencil drawing & full shading
  • Pen & ink and cross-hatching.
  • Examples of subjects covered are still life, landscape, animals and portraiture
  • The importance of a clean and tidy studio

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

For Beginners, Improvers and those with little or no experience of drawing to those who have practiced but need a refresher to get motivated again.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    For the first session bring:

  • A pad of A3 cartridge paper. Pick a minimum weight of 130gsm (not photocopier paper which is 80 gsm) The number is written on the sketch pad, the higher the number, the thicker the paper. You do not need paper heavier than 220 g/m2 if cartridge paper.
  • Watercolour paper that you already own.
  • A range of harder pencils (HB, H, 2H) and eraser (and whatever drawing materials you may already have purchased)

Other materials needed during the course will be discussed in advance of the lesson where those materials are needed; however materials you will definitely use, include pen and ink.
