Course intent

The course will introduce you to both oil and acrylic painting methods using a sketchbook, photographs, and researched images along with modern and traditional approaches and direct observation.

What will I learn?

You will · Develop individual skills in tone, colour and composition · Research and take inspiration from other artists work · Gaining confidence in using both oil & acrylic materials · Get creative with your painting · Have access to one to one support · Discover and develop your abilities through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for painters who like to experiment and try something different, and to be encouraged to develop a more creative approach.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring: · Oil or Acrylic materials you may already have · A pad of A3 cartridge paper · Soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B) · Charcoal · Soft rubber · For oil paint, please use low odour solvents such as Zest-It or Sansodor · Notebook and pen .

All materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further art courses.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
