Drawing & Painting - All Abilities

Course intent

This course will establish a range of basic methods of drawing & painting using a sketchbook, photographs, researched images, or direct observation.

What will I learn?

You will:

• Learn skills in tone, colour and composition
• Research and take inspiration from other artists work
• Gain confidence in using drawing & painting materials
• Have access to one to one support
• Discover and develop your abilities through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques

  Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

  This course is suitable for Beginners and those who have completed a workshop or another beginner art course at SAL.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

• Drawing & painting materials you may already have purchased
• A pad of A3 cartridge paper
• Soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B)
• A soft rubber and/or a graphite stick
• Notebook & pen

Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further Arts & Crafts courses
