Tai Chi - Qigong Breathing

Course intent

To learn deep breathing and apply this to a short Qigong exercise set which will aim to improve an all-round health and wellbeing.

What will I learn?

During this short 6-week course, you will · Perform warm up and cool down exercises each week. · Learn how to deep ‘dantian’ breathing. · Learn 5 ‘qigong for health’ exercises. · Practice relations and deep breathing techniques. · Develop a better understanding of tai chi, qigong, and general Chinese medicine.

Each week you will add one new exercise. You will combine your breath with the set of 5 Qigong exercises and see how the breath can deepen your Qigong practice and how the Qigong can help deepen your breath

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for - Anyone who wishes to deepen their breathing and exercise gently. - All ages, all abilities - Existing Tai Chi learners. However, it will also work well for new learners or those who wish to solely focus on Qigong.

What do I need to bring to the first class?

Please ensure you have read the following before the first session: · Returned a completed health check form. The link will be emailed to you. · Please wear comfortable, loose clothing, that will allow you to raise your arms above your head. You can wear flexible flat shoes, socks, or be barefoot. · A comfortable yoga mat and a blanket would be ideal a perhaps more comfortable but not essential. Mats are available to borrow. · Please bring a water bottle. Drinking water fountains at centres for refilling

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
