Course intent

Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience of flower arranging, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to make beautiful, seasonal designs that last. Each course you will learn new and different skills and techniques, so no two courses will be the same.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all abilities. No previous experience is necessary, however if you are a returning learner or an experienced flower arranger, you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself. Each week there will be new designs and techniques to learn with skills built in for both beginners and for those wishing to refine their technical and design skills.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

Equipment: · Scissors · bucket for flowers · plastic sheet or cloth to work on · small knife · notebook and pen

Materials

A list of materials will be sent out prior to the start date. Each week you will be given guidance on suitable materials, flowers and foliage to bring and/or purchase for the following week.

You may wish to bring a camera/use the camera on your phone to record your work and we will be using your notebook to help you to remember what you have learned.

It is essential that you wear closed toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops) and bring an apron or wear old clothes.

What can I do when I finish the course?

To progress onto other SAL courses and specific one-day workshops.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
