Course intent

You will learn the skills needed to gain a deeper understanding of the processes whilst developing personal expression in your watercolour painting.

According to your level, you will develop painting skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the range of methods and processes.

What will I learn : · Oil Painting techniques · Acrylic Painting techniques · The correct use of materials and tools · the use of a sketchbook, · the use of photographs and found images in developing an image, · Direct observation · Colour · Tonal values · Composition · The work of other artists and their techniques and styles

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for Improvers.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring: · A pencil · a sketchbook · Oil or acrylic paints · Canvas, canvas board or canvas paper · Brushes · A palette knife · A palette · Low odour thinner for oils such as ‘Zest-it’ or ‘Sansodor’

Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction.

What can I do when I finish the course?

To progress onto other SAL courses and specific one-day workshops. Learners may wish to progress on a more advanced course or one covering different painting materials in more depth.
