Course intent
Develop the skills and techniques required for successful landscape watercolour painting. Look at the part composition plays in a successful piece . The course will cover an introduction to the history and provide a context for the medium.
What will I learn?
You will learn: · a good basic knowledge of the materials and equipment used in landscape watercolour painting · how to draw for watercolour · watercolour methods · how to use a brush · colour mixing - landscape colours · how to paint themes, such as water, trees, and skies · to take part in group discussions
The overall aim is to help you develop and complete landscapes using the techniques practiced
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
For Beginners who have little or now experience of watercolour painting, to those who have been to other painting and watercolour classes and want to refine their skills.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Suggested basic equipment: · Paper: Watercolour paper – Bockingford 140lb. (300 gsm) or similar. · Brushes: Synthetic or synthetic/hair mixtures, Round: 2, 6 and 8 or larger and a flat: ¾ or 1” · Paints: Student watercolours in tubes or pans; (Artist’s Colours if you can afford them) · Gummed brown paper strip 1½ or 2” · Watercolour palette for mixing paint · F, HB, B pencils · Tissues and/or cotton rags · Small natural sponge
What can I do when I finish the course?
Many other opportunities to take up other longer art & craft classes.
