Course intent

Jazz dancing increases strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. The full-bodied nature of jazz dance develops arm strength from floor work, leg strength from jumps, and core strength from coordinating the limbs.

Jazz dance can greatly improve your sense of rhythm and physical coordination, due to its many and varied timing and rhythm changes as well as the frequently rapid pace of its movements through complex steps, sequences, and patterns.

What will I learn?

You will be learning: · Basic jazz steps, terminology, sequences & combinations, building to a choreographed routine · Jazz walks, runs, and basic jazz turns and leaps. · Essential jazz techniques of knowing where the body’s weight should be.
