Due to high numbers of enquiries, there are currently longer waiting times on the phones and a delay to responses for voicemails, emails and enquiries.

We apologise for any inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to get to you.

Course intent

You will gain a greater understanding of digital photography, improving your techniques and creativity.. You will need to be comfortable with the camera in ‘Manual’ and/or ‘priority’ modes. You will gain an understanding of how to print high quality images.

You will need EITHER a D-SLR Camera, a Bridge or Hybrid camera for this course. (Smartphones are not acceptable for this course – there are specific one-day workshops available for Smartphone photography).

What We Will Cover

You will learn: · The ability to comfortably use the ‘Priority’ and ‘Manual’ modes · An understanding of Composition · Using flash · A ‘field trip’ to enable you to hone your skills · Saving and printing high-quality images

Learners will be inspired by the contemporary and historical context and will need to keep a sketchbook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.

The course is suitable for those who have completed a Beginners course (or who have a very good working knowledge of cameras). However, if you have not completed a Beginners course with SAL, it is strongly advised that the learner checks with the tutor before enrolling.
