Course intent

This course will give parents/carers the first step tools to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact and make positive changes to family life.

What will I learn?

This is a FREE online 2 hour workshop to explore strategies to help support and improve your child’s self-esteem.

  • To understand the term ‘self-esteem
  • To identify signs and symptoms of low self-esteem
  • Ideas and ways to develop your child’s self confidence

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    If you are a parent/carer or grandparent of a child aged 5-11, and living in Surrey, this course will help you learn new ways of developing your child’s self confidence and self-esteem. This is delivered online via Zoom.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    What do I need to bring :

  • · Have my camera on · Provide a mobile phone number and email address when you enrol so that we can contact you about your course. · Please attend all sessions · A reliable internet connection · A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera · A pen and paper · Check your email for detailed joining instructions two days before course starts. · Fill out `Tell us what you think` form · Contact us on family.learning@surreycc.gov.uk if you have any questions

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    We offer a five week Understanding Children’s Behaviour Course. At the end of this course we will give you details of what you can move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with Surrey Adult Learning, a college or employment. .

    Additional Information

    We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
