Course intent

This course will give parents/carers the tools to obtain the skills and knowledge needed to make a positive impact and make positive changes to family life

What will I learn?

This is a FREE online course over three weeks, 2 hour session you will work with the tutor and other parents and carers to increase your understanding of anxiety in teenagers, and to learn new ways to help them to manage it. · The definition of anxiety · What anxiety feels like · Signs of and reasons for anxiety in teenagers · Ideas and ways to help your teenager manage their anxiety

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

If you are a parent/carer or grandparent of a teenager, and living in Surrey, this course will help you better help to manage their anxiety. This is delivered online via Zoom

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

What do I need to bring : · Have your camera on · Provide a mobile phone number and email address when you enrol so that we can contact you about your course. · Please attend all sessions · A reliable internet connection · A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera · A pen and paper · Check your email for detailed joining instructions two days before course starts. · Fill out the `Getting to know you` form and fill out `Tell us what you think` form · Contact us on family.learning@surreycc.gov.uk if you have any questions

What can I do when I finish the course?

At the end of this course, we will give you details of what you can move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with Surrey Adult Learning, a college or employment

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
