Family Learning - Settling into Secondary School Workshop for ESOL Parents

High volumes of enquiries - July 2024

Due to high numbers of enquiries, there are currently longer waiting times on the phones and a delay to responses for voicemails, emails and enquiries.

We apologise for any inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to get to you.

Course intent

Develop your skills and knowledge to help you to be more active in the support of your children’s learning and development; and positively impact on your life and that of your family.

What will I learn?

On this FREE online (2-hour) workshop you will work with the tutor and other ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) parents and carers to improve your understanding of secondary education in England and to learn how you can support your child who has just started in secondary education. You will also improve your English language skills. You will cover a range of topics that may include: · Digital skills: using Zoom · Differences between primary and secondary education · Tips on how you as a parent can help your child settle in · Potential concerns around transition from primary to secondary and how to deal with them

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

If you are a parent who is new to the UK or went to school in another country, you will develop your skills and knowledge in understanding the secondary school system and gain practical ideas to try with your children. This will be positive for your family wellbeing. This will be delivered online via Zoom
