Course intent

You will start to build a professional looking website using a free online web building tool. You will learn the basics of hypertext markup language (HTML) used to write websites and explore the basics to designing a good website.

What will I learn?

You will: · Identify a suitable template · Change company or personal details · Change the visual elements of a site · Operate the side bar to add new elements to a site · Add a blog · Learn about hosting, registering a name and publishing your site. · Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for · Anyone with some prior knowledge of computers and the Internet and would like to learn about creating a website. · Anyone with basic mouse and keyboard skills and able to create and save files and folders. · If you are completely new to computers, please look at our Digital Skills & Confidence courses first.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring A notebook and pen.

Handouts and exercises will be provided.

You must have an email address as this will be required during the registration process for the website.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto another Surrey Adult learning course, such as: · Small Business Planning & Finances - The Basics (Online) · How to Run and Market a Business (Online) · Digital Marketing Basics (online)

Or your tutor will advise you where to look, if you wish to do an accredited course.
