Cover Letters, CVs, Interviews - Career Essentials (Online)

Course intent

You will craft an exceptional cover letter by understanding how to make it stand out, structuring and customizing it for specific roles. Additionally, you'll gain the skills to create a CV that showcases what organisations need most — YOU!

This course also prepares you for successful interviews, both online and in-person, by teaching you how to prepare effectively, present confidently, manage nervousness, use positive non-verbal communication, answer and ask relevant questions, navigate online platforms, and follow up post-interview.

By completing this course, you'll be well-equipped to excel in applications and interviews to secure that dream job.

You will be attending 6 x 120-minute sessions. These classes will be real time online sessions via Zoom.

You will: · Explore example Cover Emails and Letters · Develop a Cover Email or Letter for a specific Job Application. · Explore Different CV Formats · Learn what to include in your CV to make it impactful and highlight your skills, experiences, and achievements. · Structure a draft CV to look professional, match a specific job vacancy and make a strong impression. · Recap questions most likely to be asked and questions to ask at an interview · Prepare for online interviews and discuss platforms used · Learn positive non-verbal communication for an interview · Learn techniques to manage nerves during an interview · Find out how to follow up after an interview · Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for anyone who has recently been made unemployed or who may be looking for a change in career direction.

If you are completely new to computers, please look at our Digital Skills & Confidence courses first.

This course will be delivered through a live online session using Zoom

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

An email address · A reliable internet connection · A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser · A working microphone and webcam.

If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.
