Course intent

Navigating the job market can be daunting, but our workshop is here to transform your search into a positive experience. Join us to master online job search engines, use social media for opportunities, and understand your local labour market.

In addition, discover the profound benefits of volunteering. Whether you're new or experienced, we'll help you connect with your community, enhance your CV, and contribute to causes you care about. Learn to identify your skills, explore industries in need of volunteers (including online opportunities), and understand your rights and responsibilities. Equip yourself with the knowledge to secure a beneficial volunteer agreement and make the most of your volunteering experience.

This course will expand your horizons, strengthen your job search, and make a meaningful impact.

You will be attending 2 x 120-minute sessions. These classes will be real time online sessions via Zoom.

We'll evaluate your skills and provide a course offer, which you must accept to secure your place.

During the course you will be covering the following topics: · Internet Safety · where to apply for jobs online · social media for job searching · local job market knowledge · Establish reasons for volunteering and identify the skills you have. · Discover which industries need volunteers now and how to apply. · Learn about the current rights and responsibilities as a volunteer and how to ensure support from organisations where you volunteer. · Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for anyone who has recently been made unemployed or who may be looking for a change in career direction.

If you are completely new to computers, please look at our Digital Skills & Confidence courses first.

This course will be delivered through a live online session using Zoom

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

An email address · A reliable internet connection · A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser · A working microphone and webcam.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.
