Course intent

iPad Stage 1 will enable you to unlock the full potential of your iPad, gain comprehensive understanding of its features, and maximise your iPad experience. Designed for beginners, this course equips you with the necessary skills to navigate, personalise, and use iPad apps and functions effectively.     There are three ways to apply on this course. You can: · complete the form on our website; · call us on 0300 200 1044, 9am to 3pm Monday to Friday; or

    visit one of our centres.

    We'll evaluate your skills and provide a course offer, which you must accept to secure your place.

    What will I learn?

    You will · Identify the main features of the iPad · Use iPad gestures such as tapping and pinching · Connect to Wi-Fi networks and personalise your iPad · Download, open, close, organise, and switch between apps efficiently. · Send and receive emails, attachments and photos · Use the iPad's camera for capturing photos, recording videos, and making FaceTime calls. · Understand the importance of backing up and synchronising your data. · Perform web searches using Safari. · Learn how to stay safe online. · Manage your Apple ID · Use the Contacts app to store and organise contact details · Make use of useful shortcut controls · Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    This course is designed for · individuals who own or plan to own an iPad and want to gain a comprehensive understanding of its features, Apps, and functions. No prior knowledge of iPads is required.

    If you answer no to the questions below, then this is the course for you. · Can you confidently create and name a folder, save a file, and then find it again? · Do you know the difference between one tap and a swipe? · Do you know the difference between a browser and a search engine?

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You need to bring: · a notebook and pen

    You may like to progress onto another Surrey Adult learning course, such as: · Apple Mac Digital Skills & Confidence – Stages 2 – 6 · Essential Digital Skills qualification (EDSQ)

    Or your tutor can direct you to ‘Next steps’ section, on our website, if you wish to do something else.

    We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
