Digital Skills using a Computer (IT) (LD)

Course intent

Develop a range of digital skills, whilst improving your literacy and communication skills. Learn about internet safety and use software such as Word and PowerPoint for projects.

What will I learn?

During this course you will have the opportunity to:

Use the internet / Smartboard to search for information.

Establish how to stay safe online.

Use a variety of applications, such as Word, PowerPoint.

Change a creative composition and enter and edit text.

Improve communication, confidence, and social skills through participation in group discussions and activities.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability, it is designed to help learners progress from their individual starting point to build confidence, independence, and social skills for everyday life.

You will need to have some knowledge or experience of computers; be able to recognise words and write short sentences, read, and understand information given by numbers and symbols in simple graphical material.

You must be able to follow guidance on health and safety and be ready to work as part of a group.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Bring a pen and reading glasses if you use them.
