How to apply

Please complete the form on our website.

You will be offered a place on a course based on your assessment results and availability.

Course intent

This is an intensive one-year course is for adults aged 19 or over commencing September 2024. This GCSE maths course will help you to develop the skills you need to get a Grade 4 / 5. This is the level that most employers and higher academic institutions ask for. You can join a class at one of our centres in Guildford, Woking, Camberley, and Sunbury. You could also choose to study online. You can study in the daytime or in the evening. All our classes last 3 hours and run once a week.

What will I learn?

This course is challenging and requires perseverance and dedication. This is a foundation level GCSE Maths course. You will study number, algebra, geometry, measures, statistics, and probability.

Delivery Method

You will be taught by a tutor who is a subject specialist at one of our centres or online. We also recommend that you develop your learning skills outside the classroom. You will be supported to do this through use of the Internet, Moodle and BKSB.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

You need to be 19 or over on the 31st of August 2024 and not have a grade A* - C / grade 9 - 4 GCSE in maths.

Entry Requirements

You will need to complete an online initial assessment. This will help us place you on the correct course. This course will not be right for you if do not get at least Level 1 in your initial assessment. This course will not be for you if already have a grade C / grade 4 GCSE. If you are not at the level needed for GCSE, we may offer you a place on a different maths course. Please note: If you are an ESOL learner without a Level 1 ESOL qualification this course will be too hard for you.

Exams

You will work towards the AQA GCSE Maths Foundation qualification. You must sit the final exams with Surrey Adult Learning, not with another provider. The exam dates are fixed nationally, and we cannot change them. You will be given these dates at the start of your course by your tutor.

Attendance

You will be required to attend at least 90% of your classes. Should your attendance fall below this, your place on the course may be at risk. This is an academic course, and you must allow time for private study at home of at least 2-3 hours per week.
