Gut Health Cookery - Kimchi & Krauts

Course intent

Vegan Living Food chef Lynn Parry-Jones will share her passion for the Gut Microbiome and the ancient alchemy of Fermentation in this workshop. You will discover how vitally important it is to have healthy gut bacterial diversity and the many ways it can improve your health, alongside learning how to make simple Fermented foods, packed full of beneficial bacteria.

What will I learn?

During this workshop you will learn how to prepare the following ferments, using fresh ingredients with many different herbs and spices.

  • Ruby Red Kraut
  • Kimchi
  • Red Pepper Chutney

Lynn is passionate about health and the power that food has a medicine. She is happy to share some of her 30 years’ experience as a Health Educator.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

The workshop welcomes everyone.

You will need to supply:

  • 2 large 900g glass jars (approx) with either screw or Kilner type flip tops.
  • 2 Medium 300g glass jars with either screw or Kilner type flips tops

Used and washed jars are fine.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please ensure you have completed the following before the first session:

  • You will be emailed a workbook. It will outline the ingredients & resources you need to bring and those that will be supplied.
  • Inform adultlearning@surreycc.gov.uk if you need any adaptations to the recipes.
  • A container to take your dish(es) home
