Our series of one-off lectures will give you the opportunity to delve into the details of Royal History with our expert tutor. In this lecture, we will find out more about the life of Anne of Bohemia, the first wife of King Richard II.

What will I learn?

Anne of Bohemia was Queen of England as the first wife of King Richard II. A member of the House of Luxembourg, she was the eldest daughter of Charles IV, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Bohemia, and Elizabeth of Pomerania and she was a brilliant match for King Richard. The marriage of Anne and Richard was a happy one and Anne’s death at the age of 28 was believed to have been caused by plague.
