Course intent
Our series of one-off lectures will give you the opportunity to delve into the details of Royal History with our expert tutor. In this lecture, we will explore the life of Eleanor of Provence, consort of King Henery III.
What will I learn?
· Eleanor of Provence was the consort of King Henry III and the second of the four beautiful daughters of Raymond Berenger V, Count of Provence. King Henry was a loving husband and their marriage a happy one but Queen Eleanor’s popularity suffered when her Savoyard uncles visited England and were generously entertained by King Henry. Eleanor’s extravagances continued to excite the hostility of the Londoners for many years to come.
