Course intent
In this course, we will discover the lives of the previous Duchesses of York.
What will I learn?
The Dukedom of York was first created in 1385 for a son of King Edward III and the first duchess was a daughter of the King of Castile. In this course we look at the present Duchess of York’s predecessors including Cicely, ‘Proud Cis’, the mother of Kings Edward IV and Richard III, Anne Hyde, the mother of Queens Mary II and Anne and the Prussian princess Frederica, the wife of ‘The Grand Old Duke of York’.
