Course intent

Our series of one-off lectures will give you the opportunity to delve into the details of Royal History with our expert tutor. In this online lecture we study the life of David I, ‘The Saint’, King of Scots.

What will I learn?

David I ruled as King of Scots from 1124-1153. He owes his sobriquet, ‘The Saint’, to the number of religious houses he founded. Scotland prospered during the reign of King David and at the time of his death Scotland’s territory had extended further south than during the reigns of any of his predecessors
