Course intent
.Learners who are already skilled will have the opportunity to develop, refine and broaden their knowledge and skills in patchwork, quilting and appliqué. It will be delivered through instruction and hands-on experience and enable the development of interesting and creative quilts and projects.
What will I learn?
.You will
- explore traditional and modern patchwork, quilting and applique techniques
- develop interesting designs and quilt projects (agreed with the tutor) Note: projects may take more than one term to complete.
- have the opportunity to regularly share quilting experiences
- fabrics and threads to complete your individual projects
- pins
- needles
- scissors
- tape measure etc
- additional fabrics for testing and trailing techniques and machine stitches
- notepad, pen and pencil
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for learners with an enhanced skills base who wish to develop their knowledge and skills in this subject area at an improving and advanced level.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
.You need to bring:
basic sewing equipment
Rotary cutting equipment and sewing machines belonging to the centre are available to use during the course.
A ‘needs list’ will be sent out prior to the start of the courses which will include where to go to source fabric.
What can I do when I finish the course?
.Patchwork, quilting and appliqué courses will be offered throughout the year by Surrey Adult Learning to develop skills in this subject area.
