Watercolour Painting - Winter Landscape in Mixed Media Workshop

Course intent

Use watercolours or acrylics with collage materials to create a beautiful, layered, winter landscape.

What will I learn?

You will be given individual help and guidance to complete your winter landscape. Through a series of demonstrations, you will be shown

• how to make samples of winter-themed papers
• how to plan your design in layers
• how to include fabrics and threads.

  Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

  This course is suitable for anyone who has recently used watercolours or acrylics and wants to explore different techniques.

  What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

  You need to bring:

• at least one piece of white A3 cardboard as the base
• Some pieces of cartridge paper/watercolour paper, any fancy/hand-made papers you already have
• the acrylic paints or watercolours you are already using
• palette and brushes
• Table salt
• cling film
• scraps of fabrics
• pieces of thread/string
• scissors
• PVA glue
(The tutor will have a limited amount of fabric and threads for you to use (free) and small pieces of hand-made papers to sell – up to £1.50).

What can I do when I finish the course?

Join a watercolour or acrylics course provided by Surrey Adult Learning

Your tutor teaches weekly courses for Improvers in Farnham on Tuesday mornings and evenings and in Guildford on Friday mornings.
