Course intent
You will gain an understanding of the basics of how using flash (both the camera’s built-in and INDEPENDENT Flash) works with your camera and can improve your photography.

Ideal for those who have completed the Beginners Course or for those with a good understanding of the basics in photography (ISO, shutter speed and aperture) and who mainly work out of the AUTO settings.

Any prior knowledge and understanding of flash photography is not necessary.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need:
- Digital camera with a memory card, at least one lens
- The tutor will have a number of flashguns (compatible with Canon/Nikon)
N.B. If you have a different make/model of camera, it is advisable to contact the tutor prior to the course – geoff.young@surreycc.gov.uk
- Fully charged batteries for both camera and external flash
What can I do when I finish the course?
Surrey Adult Learning offer courses in digital imaging using Adobe Photoshop Elements. You may progress to joining a camera club or wish to study further for a qualification in further or higher education.
