Course intent
Join in for a dynamic drawing session exploring the figure in motion. We will develop our ability to capture the gesture of the figure, and we will learn a variety of drawing approaches that will encourage us to convey the movement of the figure in experimental ways.
What will I learn?
• Approaches to tone, line, shape and composition
- Gesture drawing
- Mark-making for expressive images of the moving figure

This is a mixed ability class, so all are welcome.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
• A2 white cartridge paper
- A2 newsprint
- A3 tracing paper
- Variety of pencils (at least HB 2B and 4B
- Sharpener
- Graphite stick
- Willow charcoal
- Compressed charcoal
- Rubber
- Board clips or masking tape
What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL.
The tutor will be happy to assist learners wishing to build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education or alternative courses of study with other providers.
