Course intent
This course will celebrate the beauty of flowers that grow in Early Spring. You will learn about creating different flower designs, how to keep them fresh and the skills you need to select flowers, foliage, and materials for your arrangements, all using a variety of Eco-friendly mechanics and structures.
What will I learn?

- Learn about the options available of eco-friendly materials, and how to use them.
- Learn how to create a variety of Spring flower designs using eco-friendly mechanics.
- To become confident about selecting seasonal flowers for your designs.
- Learn flower Identifications and how to look after them.
- We will look at colour, form, design trends and suitability for any occasion.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is suitable for all levels of ability including return learners. No previous experience is necessary – just enthusiasm and a love of flowers. We will cover several designs, each using a different handmade eco-friendly structure.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring your own flowers and foliage and also:
- Scissors,
- Bucket for flowers,
- Plastic sheet or cloth to work on
- Small knife or scissors
- Notebook & pen
- A list of materials and flowers needed will be sent out prior to the start date. However, your tutor will always have a selection of materials available to purchase during the course, should you be unable to get them elsewhere. It is essential to wear closed toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops) and bring an apron or wear old clothes.
What can I do when I finish the course?
Your tutor, Lynn Sleet will be teaching further Saturday workshops that cover a range of themed designs. Also on offer are longer Wednesday flower arranging courses with tutor Lesley Prendergast in Woking and Guildford.
