Patchwork - An Introduction to Seminole Patchwork - Beginners & Improvers Workshop

Course intent

This is a one-day workshop when you will be introduced to the technique of Seminole patchwork, given the opportunity to try out some patterns and be shown how to incorporate them into attractive items

What will I learn?

.You will

• Be introduced to basic Seminole patchwork techniques whilst working at your own pace
• Learn about fabric choice, preparation and colour combining
• Be given instruction for using a rotary cutter for clean cut edges and trimming.
• Given guidance to help achieve accurate ¼ inch seams using a sewing machine
• Shown how to press patchwork seams
• Be provided with instruction for incorporating a patchwork block into a simple wrap-over cushion.

Creativity will be encouraged.

There will be opportunity to share ideas and patchwork experiences.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course has been designed for beginners and improvers. Some experience of fabric, thread and a sewing machine would be useful but is not essential.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

A ‘needs list’ will be sent out before the start of the workshop which will include what you need to bring and where to source fabrics.

What can I do when I finish the course?

.You can enrol on Patchwork, Quilting and Appliqué - Beginners & Improvers in Guildford on a Wednesday. New courses include Sewing for Home on a Wednesday evening, with different 6 week long projects and Sewing clothes on a Monday afternoon, both in Guildford. We also offer other Saturday workshops, including applique, embroidery workshops, and crochet.
