Course intent
Our conversation classes are ideal for those who want to continue practising their spoken language in a friendly, informal environment with the support of an experienced tutor. They are great as a standalone course or in combination with one of our other language courses.
What will I learn?
This course is tailored to the needs and interests of the class. Our skilled tutors will ensure that you have the opportunity to practise speaking about a range of topics, as well as improve your social conversational skills.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Intermediate Conversation is suitable for learners who have intermediate level language skills (CEFR B1 level) or who have studied the language for four or more years.
You should be able to communicate reasonably well in everyday situations. You should also be able to express your opinions and know how to use a range of tenses.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Please bring a notepad and pen.
Your tutor will advise you of any required course books. These typically cost £15 - £30 and will be used for more than one term / year.
You may wish to purchase additional study aids such as CDs, workbooks, dictionaries, and grammar books, which are optional.
This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom. To fully participate in this course, you will need:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer / laptop / tablet with a fully updated browser, microphone and webcam.
- If you struggle to read printed text on a screen and you want to print resources, you will need access to a printer.
Once enrolled, you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.
What can I do when I finish the course?
You are welcome to participate in this course for as long as you wish to consolidate and maintain your language skills. We may also offer conversation courses at Upper Intermediate and Advanced levels that provide opportunities for progression.
