Exploring Psychology - Spring (Online)

Course intent

This course explores the fascinating subject of psychology through topics that are relevant to our understanding of contemporary society.

What will I learn?

.Each term, you will learn about a range of topics which will give you an insight into the way people think and behave from different perspectives. Topics for this term include:

  • Effective Communications
  • The Psychology of Wealth
  • The Psychology of Cults

Whilst the course in general has an overall focus on Social Psychology, aspects of Cognitive, Clinical and Developmental Psychology are also examined, where relevant. The topics are presented in a way that enables learners to explore and discuss research findings and case studies as part of the learning process.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

.This course is ideal for those who wish to study psychology for interest, or for those wishing to gain some experience of the subject before embarking on formal study. Whilst topics are covered at an introductory level, some background knowledge of psychology would be advantageous.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English. You must be 19 years old or older to join this course.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

.We recommend bringing pen and paper to every lesson to make notes. You may also find it helpfully to have a folder to keep copies of the presentation notes.

This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom. To fully participate in this course, you will need:

  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer / laptop / tablet with a fully updated browser, microphone and webcam.
  • If you struggle to read printed text on a screen and you want to print resources, you will need access to a printer.

Once enrolled, you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.

What can I do when I finish the course?

.This course offers learners a fresh insight into understanding human thought and behaviour, which can be advantageous in a variety of occupations. It is also good preparation for formal studies in Psychology.

Some Humanities courses and lectures are currently online and some are centre-based. Your tutor will advise you on the options available to you.

.This course does not qualify for an Education and Skills Funding Agency subsidy, so no concessions are available.
