Do you want to practise your lipreading skills and build your confidence in a social setting?
Our Intermediate classes ideal for those who have completed year 1 & 2 Lipreading and Managing Hearing Loss courses want to improve their lipreading in a friendly, informal environment with the support of an experienced tutor.
What will I learn?
This course is tailored to the needs and interests of the class. Our skilled tutors will ensure that you have the opportunity to practise lipreading on a range of topics whilst improving your social conversational skills.
Lessons will focus on developing your lipreading skills to encourage you to apply and extend your knowledge of lipreading and communication. You will work in pairs and groups to maximise the time you spend speaking in each lesson.
You will make the most progress if you attend every lesson and complete any self-directed study recommended by your tutor.

Suitable for learners who have completed year 1 and 2 Lipreading and Managing Hearing Loss. Start at any time of year.
This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom.
To fully participate in this course you will need:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and webcam.
Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.
You will need to complete some course documentation to help assess your progress.
Suitable for mixed abilities, beginners welcome. No previous knowledge is required. Start at any time of year.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need access to a computer/laptop/tablet with a reliable internet connection, working microphone, and webcam. If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.
What can I do when I finish the course?
The learner will have opportunities during the term to discuss further learning with the tutor and curriculum team.
