Course intent
This course will establish a range of styles and techniques of Acrylic Painting through the study and practise of traditional and more contemporary artists.
What will I learn?
You will:
- Develop the use of pastel tints, colour, composition and perspective
- Gain confidence in using pastels
- Take part in group reviews and discussions
- Explore a range of techniques and styles from the traditional to the more modern
- Have access to one-to-one support as well as group discussions on various topics
- Develop personal expression through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques
- Any acrylic materials you have or a set of acrylic paints
- Brushes
- A tear off palette
- Watercolour or acrylic paper, canvas or canvas board
- A pad of A3 cartridge paper
- Soft grade of pencils (2B to 6B)
- Soft rubber
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for all abilities. Some experience of acrylic painting would be helpful although this is not essential.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

In discussion with your tutor you may like to progress onto further art courses at SAL.
