Course intent
Strong for Longer is a collection of strength and confidence-building courses adapted to you, whatever your stage in life. These unique courses provide you with an opportunity to regain and maintain the skills and knowledge to protect your health now and in the future. Strong for Longer courses are aimed at adults of all ages looking to increase their day-to-day movement and improve their muscle strength.
The course works at your level.
What will I learn?
.You will learn:
- A range of yoga postures in standing and seated positions.
- Breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation techniques.
- Hatha Yoga which involves moving into and holding postures.
- How to use blocks and bolsters, to help you achieve better alignment.
- Want to start or reintroduce Yoga into your week.
- Want to exercise seated or holding onto a barre.
- Feel confident with light to moderate physical activity.
- Want to maintain or rehabilitate strength and movement.
- Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to reach up and bend down. Add an extra warm layer or light blanket for use in relaxation.
- Yoga is practised with bare feet.
- Bring a bottle of drinking water. The centre has fountains to refill.
- You will use a yoga mat. Please bring your own or borrow one of ours.
- You may use blocks. Please bring your own or borrow ours.
