Course intent

On this 5-week course, learn some of the design skills needed to make a beautiful, coordinating or fun and practical pair of useful, cozy, home accessories. Personalise and be creative in a simple project for your home.

  • How to use Basic machine sewing functions.
  • Re-use and recycle fabrics.
  • How to alter and insert a zip.
  • Simple decorative techniques with waste fabric/ribbons.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You need to bring:

    • 3 x kgm buckwheat filling. Buckwheat Filling | Buckwheat Hulls | Cushion Warehouse

    • 1 metre outer fabric.
    • Fabric scraps/ribbons/buttons etc.
    • 50 cm herringbone cotton tape.
    • Reel of matching machine thread.
    • Hand sewing needles.
    • A small bag of kiln dried or play sand.

      What can I do when I finish the course?

      Further Sewing for Home courses in Guildford follow this one including Sewing for Home - Make a Roman Blind - All Abilities starting on the 26th February, then Sewing for Home - Bed canopy or Bespoke Playhouse - All Abilities starting on the 30th April for 5 weeks. Or explore your own projects on the 5 week long Sewing for Home - All Abilities starting 11th June.
