Course intent
You will acquire the knowledge and skills to successfully operate, at home or at work, within the Office 365 environment, this includes OneDrive.
This course will be delivered using the online version of Microsoft Office 365.
What will I learn?

- Explore included Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Personalise your workspace
- Identify how to keep yourself and others safe online
- Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
Office 365 was launched in 2011, and contains the same popular applications as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
There are online - and mobile-only versions of Office, known as Office Online, where you can access some feature-limited versions of Office apps for free.
IMPORTANT - You must set up your Office 365 account before starting the course, there will not be time to do this during the class.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This is for:
- Beginners and those who have limited experience of Office 365
- Have the ability to use a computer and mouse and keyboard
- If you are new to computers, please look at our ‘Windows PC Digital Skills & Confidence - Stage 1’ course first.
This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom
To fully participate in this course, you will need:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A subscription to Office 365 or a free Outlook account already set up (see section above on what we cover).
- A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser, microphone, and webcam.
Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need:
- Your username and password to login and logout of your Office 365 account.
- If you do not have subscription to Microsoft 365 you will need to sign up for a Microsoft 365 email account to give you free access to the limited Internet only version of the software. Please do this before you begin the course.
- To create a free account, go to www.office.com select the red sign in button and then follow the instructions.
