Course intent
This course will build your confidence in the kitchen, enhancing your skills to prepare everyday meals for you and others.
What will I learn?
This short course has a course workbook containing all you need to know. The workbook contains all the course recipes.
Our Confidence Builder has a specific focus each week:
- Week 1: Developing knife skills. Grilling. Producing frittata, tortilla or similar.
- Week 2: Breadmaking
- Week 3: Basic sauces. Introducing red and white sauce to produce a lasagne.
- Week 4: Baking a cake.
- Week 5: Free choice as agreed by the class.
Throughout the Confidence Builder course, you will also focus on:
- Eating for good health and specific diets
- Basic mathematics using various weights, volumes, measurements, and budgeting.
- Nutrition
- Kitchen safety and food hygiene
- Store cupboard ingredients and improved shopping.

- Containers to take your dish(es) home
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is aimed at those wanting to develop their basic cookery skills, ideally would have completed the Essentials Skills cookery course.
