Creative Glass - Beginners

Course intent

Discover the beautiful and versatile art form of copper foil-stained glass. You will learn the techniques to produce small scale projects, starting with simple single panel designs and working up to a 3D terrarium or lantern. If you have some experience already, you will be encouraged to work on more complex and challenging designs.

What will I learn?

You will learn:

• How to work with glass in a safe environment
• How to hand cut glass and assemble the panels
• To use copper foil for soldering and panel assembly
• To generate your own designs – creating a cartoon using your knowledge of glass cutting
• Develop your knowledge and skills with more complex designs, building in 3D

  Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

  Suitable for beginners with no previous knowledge and for learners with some experience who wish to expand their glasswork skills with copper foiling techniques

Please note: this course is not suitable for pregnant or lactating mothers

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

• A sketchbook and pen
• An apron and closed toe shoes

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto another course. There are other courses available with SAL including one-day workshops.
