Course intent
Discover techniques and tips on how to get the best out of your garden. We will break down the seasonal jobs that are required throughout the year to help you understand how to maintain your plants and keep them in bloom all year round. Working outside will be weather dependent!
What will I learn?
You will learn how to:
- Identify different soil types and how to improve its quality
- Prune and plant when dormant
- Collect seeds
- Care for your lawn
- Troubleshoot
- Safeguarding, Prevent & British Values
Learners will keep a sketchbook / notebook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.
There will be demonstrations, instruction, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.
To ensure that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner on their Individual Learning Plan.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for learners of all abilities. No previous experience is necessary - just enthusiasm and a love of plants and gardens.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:
- An apron and closed toe shoes
- A notebook and pen
- A pair of gloves
- Photos of your outside space
