Course intent
This course will establish a range of basic methods of drawing & painting using a sketchbook, photographs, researched images, or direct observation.
What will I learn?
You will:
- Learn skills in tone, colour and composition
- Research and take inspiration from other artists work
- Gain confidence in using drawing & painting materials
- Have access to one to one support
- Discover and develop your abilities through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is suitable for Beginners and those who have completed a workshop or another beginner art course at SAL.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:
- Drawing & painting materials you may already have purchased
- A pad of A3 cartridge paper
- Soft grade of pencils (4B or 6B)
- A soft rubber and/or a graphite stick
- Notebook & pen
Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed at induction.
What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further Arts & Crafts courses. Learners may wish to continue with advanced courses or select one covering different painting materials or techniques in more depth.
