Family Learning - Use a Positive Approach to Build Your Child's Resilience Course

Course intent

You will develop your skills and knowledge to help build your child’s resilience. This will positively impact on your family wellbeing.

What will I learn?

This is a FREE online Four-week course (2-hour sessions). You will work with the tutor and other parents and learn how to use a positive approach to build your child's resilience. Learn what resilience looks like in your child and identify factors with which you can help them develop resilience to the ups and downs of life, self-esteem and confidence.

  • Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    This course is suitable for parents, carers and grandparents who live in Surrey and want to help their child develop resilience. This is delivered online via Zoom.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You will need to:

    • Have your camera on
    • Provide a mobile phone number and email address when you enrol so that we can contact you about your course.
    • Please attend all sessions
    • A reliable internet connection
    • A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera
    • A pen and paper
    • Check your email for detailed joining instructions two days before course starts.
    • Fill out the `Getting to know you` form and fill out `Tell us what you think` form
    • Contact us on family.learning@surreycc.gov.uk if you have any questions
    • What can I do when I finish the course?

      At the end of this course we will give you details of what you can move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with Surrey Adult Learning, a college or employment.

      Additional information

      We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
