Watercolour Painting & Drawing for Hongkongers BN(O) - All Abilities

Course intent

Learn about which materials to use and how to draw and use watercolour paint and paint beautiful watercolour paintings. All materials provided.

What will I learn?

Clear tutor demonstrations will show you what to do. You will practise what you have learned to help you to remember and to build your confidence.

You will learn:

  • Drawing techniques to help you draw what you see
  • Which paper, pencils, brushes and paint to use
  • Watercolour techniques
  • Brush techniques
  • How to use shading, highlights and shadows
  • How to mix colours and the use of colour theory.
  • Design- how to arrange your picture so that it looks good (Composition)

The course will build on past learning, week by week to help you gradually develop new skills, so attendance at every lesson is recommended. As well as group discussion you will have access to one-to-one support.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for All Abilities – specifically for those with little or no experience of drawing and painting as well as those who would like to develop their skills further and learn new techniques.

Courses will be taught in English and for learners who self-assess at being Intermediate level or above.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

If you have attended this course before you need to bring the materials that you were given in 2024:

  • Pencils, rubber, palette, brushes, pens, small notebook. You will be given paper and paints each week, as before.
  • If you have not attended this course before you will be given all the materials that you need.

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    Enrol on the next course in the Summer Term.

    We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
