What will I learn?
This FREE online Three-week course (2-hour session) for parents and carers of neurodivergent children. This course is designed to teach neurodivergent families essential knife skills and safe salad preparation techniques. Through hands-on practice and safety tips, participants will gain confidence in the kitchen. Some great, simple recipes to kick-start positive cooking and eating habits for the whole family at home
- How to sharpen a knife.
- Knife safety basics.
- Mastering the rolling chop technique..
- Safety tips for using peelers and graters.
By the end of this course, you'll have the skills to safely and efficiently prepare meals with your family.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for parents, carers and children aged five plus who live in surrey and want to cook together You will be email a ingredients list before course starts This is delivered online via Zoom
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need to:
- Have your camera on
- Provide a mobile phone number and email address when you enrol so that we can contact you about your course.
- Please attend all sessions
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera
- A pen and paper
- Check your email for detailed joining instructions two days before course starts.
- Fill out the `Getting to know you` form and fill out `Tell us what you think` form
- Contact us on family.learning@surreycc.gov.uk if you have any questions
What can I do when I finish the course?
At the end of this course, we will give you details of what you can move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with Surrey Adult Learning, a college or employment

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
