Course intent

Using watercolours or acrylics with collage materials, create a vibrant summer meadow

What will I learn?

You will be given individual help and guidance to complete your summer meadow. Through a series of demonstrations, you will be shown how to

• paint samples of home-made papers
• plan your design in layers
• use composition effectively
• how to include fabrics and threads
• how to complete your meadow

  Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

  This course is suitable for anyone who has recently used watercolours or acrylics.

  What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

  You need to bring:

• at least one piece of white A3 cardboard as the base for your mixed media piece
• some pieces of cartridge paper/watercolour paper
• any fancy/hand-made papers you already have
• the acrylic paints or watercolours you are already using
• palette and brushes
• scraps of fabrics
• pieces of thread/string or any other collage materials of your chocie
• scissors
• PVA glue
(The tutor will have a limited amount of fabric and threads for you to use (free) and pieces of hand-made papers to sell – up to £1.50).

Your tutor teaches weekly courses for Improvers in Farnham on Tuesday mornings and evenings and in Guildford on Friday mornings.
