Mixed Media & Collaged Animals - All Abilities Workshop [SSK]

Course intent

Dive into the world of collage and explore how to create layered, colourful animal artworks using paper. Drawing inspiration from a variety of artists, you will create several pieces to find your own style. Learners will start by learning simple collage skills, exploring how to capture the essence of an animal in collage. We will then progress to experimenting with adding mixed media to really make your artwork pop.

What will I learn?

You will learn how to:

  • Find suitable collage papers.
  • Create accurate shapes using cutting and tearing methods.
  • Learn about different mediums and how they can build up your layers.
  • Explore colour theory with confidence.
  • Create a range of tones and gradients within a collage.
  • Finish a collage to a high level.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all abilities. Perhaps you have experimented with other art styles before, or maybe this is completely new to you. Collage is a fantastic way to loosen up and create expressive, textured works. Many learners comment on how relaxing and mindful collaging can be.
