Course intent

Do you have a fascination with the universal truths of greed, power, love and hate? Would you like to know more about Guildford’s unique role in shaping British history? Then this is the course for you.

What will I learn?

In this lecture, you will learn about what makes Guildford special. We will examine its history from Saxon England to the modern day. Norman castles, medieval monarchs, Archbishop George Abbot, Alice in Wonderland and Alan Turing will all feature in the talk, and much more.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This lecture is suitable for everyone. No prior knowledge is required, just an interest in the topic.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You are welcome to bring a pen and notebook for taking notes, but most important of all is your curiosity and enthusiasm!
