Flower Arranging - Bouquet 3 Hand-tied Designs All Abilities Workshop

Course intent

This one-day course will cover all the fundamentals needed for you to make a symmetrical, summer flower, hand-tied bouquet showing you 3 different ways to present it. First a hand-tied bouquet which can stand alone in a water bubble and box, the second a bouquet using a wire framework / armature and finally using a grid system on a vase. These designs will be made from one bunch of flowers, reusing them each time.

What will I learn?

You will be guided on how you can condition and care for flowers and foliage to achieve longevity and beautiful blooms and which summer flowers and foliage are good to use.

Cover some of the Elements & Principles of floral design

How to get the best out of your blooms for a longer life

How to arrange and construct a symmetrical handtied bouquet

How to construct a handtied bouquet with a wire armature

How to select a suitable container for a hand-tied bouquet plus adding a grid system tod the top.

Your tutor will also cover how easy it is to add variations to any designs.

How the benefits of flower arranging are good for your mental health and wellbeing.

See how important it is to work in a safe, clean and tidy environment along with using tools and equipment.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This one-day course is suitable for all age groups and abilities. No prior knowledge is required, just a love of flowers.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

  • Scissors
  • bucket for flowers
  • plastic sheet or cloth to work on
  • small sharp knife
  • notebook and pen
  • One bunch of supermarket flowers and foliage from the garden, more guidance given on enrolment.
  • What can I do when I finish the course?

    In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto further flower arranging courses, such as the Wednesday flower arranging courses in Guildford and Woking to enhance your learning. All details available on the Surrey Adult Learning website.
