Course intent

You will develop your skills and knowledge to help you to be more active in the support of your child’s reading and anxiety. This will positively impact on your family wellbeing

What will I learn?

Join us for a 1.5-hour workshop designed to teach your child wellbeing skills through storybooks. Plus, enjoy fun Easter egg hunts with prizes, craft activities, and interactive entertainment by Joylon the Balloon Person!

  • Support your child's wellbeing by reading storybooks together.
  • Develop important emotional skills in a fun and engaging way.
  • Craft activities to spark creativity.
  • Balloon fun with music, juggling, spinning plates, simple science demonstrations, and more!

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for parents, carers and grandparents who live in Surrey and want to learn how to us stories to provide emotional support for your children and to help improve their mental health.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

All craft materials and books will be provided

What can I do when I finish the course?

We offer a three week Help your Child Manage Anxiety you can progress to.

At the end of this course, we will give you details of what you can move on to next, for example volunteering, further courses with Surrey Adult Learning, a college or employment

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
